At Tabernacle
Christian School we have a traditional philosophy of
education as compared to the progressive philosophy of the
public school systems.
We believe that
the sole end of man is to glorify God and to bring pleasure
to Him as we live our lives yielded to His control.
Consequently, our primary focus is in developing the spirit
of the child. Scripture teaches us that “the fear of the
Lord is the beginning of knowledge”. As we teach a child of
his need for salvation and Lordship, the education of his
soul and body will be greatly enhanced.
Our main premise
is that the Word of God is the absolute authority in all
areas of our lives, and that all knowledge must be
interpreted in light of the Scriptures. Accordingly, the
Bible is our foundational text book.
Our school strives
to keep God as the central focus of all classes and
activities. A traditional education must be God-centered.
We believe that
the authority of the administration and teachers is crucial
for developing a proper respect for, and obedience to God in
our students’ lives. Therefore, we strive to be proper
Christian examples to our students.
Realizing that we
all have a sin nature which needs to be overcome, we set
standards and establish curriculum in order to develop Godly
character. We are careful to maintain a firm, yet loving
atmosphere in our school.
All full time
teachers are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church and are
expected to demonstrate a high level of spiritual maturity
worthy of imitation.
Through the use of the traditional approach to education we
seek to lead the student to develop personal Biblical
convictions. We seek to build the spirit of the child
through the use of solid Christian textbooks and curriculum.
We endeavor to teach the child to open his spirit to God,
because when the spirit is open to God, it is open to other
authority. When his spirit is open to Godly authority, he
can achieve academic excellence.
The responsibility of spiritual and academic training belongs
to parents. Our traditional approach embraces a close
working relationship between the home, the church, and the
school. As we work with the parents to develop faithful
church members, the foundation of the school is
automatically strengthened.
The school operates within the framework of the church which
helps to maintain the thrust of the educational process
based upon the Word of God. The local church, not the state,
is responsible to help parents fulfill this responsibility.
Through the efforts of the three-fold cord - the home, the
church, the school – we believe the goal of training up
children to love the Lord, and to walk in all of His ways
can be met.
